Cashmere's Side Street Now Runs From First Coffee to Last Cider, With a New Room Upstairs

Before this fall, The Side Street Cashmere was a set of shops sharing one address at 101–111 Railroad Ave. On Oct. 1 it opened The Sagebrush, a 2,500-square-foot event space with a stage, built above HoneyHour Market. The block can now host gatherings as well as sell things, and this is its first holiday season that way. On a single stretch of Railroad Avenue, a December Saturday can begin with coffee, include gift shopping and mailing the gifts, and end with a glass of wine or cider after dark.

The added room is what changes the block's role. Here is how it fits together for the weeks ahead.

The Room Upstairs Changes What the Block Is For

Business World reported that The Sagebrush opened with an event hosted by 509 Female Founders, a networking group for women entrepreneurs. The room sits in the middle of the complex. You reach it from the main entrance above HoneyHour Market at 107 Railroad Ave. Co-owner Jana Thomas listed a wide range of uses for it in that story, including weddings, community events, musical events, off-site meetings, baby showers, birthday parties and pop-up shops.

She explained the thinking behind it in the same article. "We're really trying to get the event space to get more activity on the block," Thomas told Business World. The idea is that the tenants downstairs will use the room. HoneyHour could hold a farm-to-table dinner there, and the record shop could play vinyl from the stage. Anyone who wants to book the room for a holiday party can email [email protected].

For the holidays, Thomas said tenants plan to offer services such as gift wrapping. She also said the room will host community events, including a Holiday Market and a "Kid's Market" where children can sell crafts they made. The Side Street events page is where those listings will go.

From 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Without Moving the Car

The new room matters because the shops downstairs already cover most of a day. Here are the posted hours for the anchor businesses this season, taken from each business's own website:

Gaucho's hours are listed on its own site, and Brassbound sends holiday-hour changes through its website. Dispatch updated its page on Oct. 1, 2026.

The table also shows that Monday is the slow day on the block. Gaucho is open and Dispatch takes drop-offs, but HoneyHour, Brassbound, Cashmere Records and Yonder East are all closed. From Tuesday through Saturday, the block's posted hours run from 6 a.m. coffee to Yonder East's 9 p.m. close, and on Fridays and Saturdays HoneyHour stays open until 9 p.m. as well.

Gifts That Start and Ship From the Same Address

Thomas described the shops to Business World this way: "The shops that we have in our building, everyone is getting really unique things. You're really going to get something that's not repeatable." Her point is easy to check in the tenant list.

Hailey Glass's Brassbound Collective sells goods made by local makers. Understory Book Shop is downstairs from Brassbound. NCWLIFE profiled the family behind these neighboring stores. Mary Mainord runs Understory, which carries books across many genres plus gifts with a literary theme. John Mainord runs Cashmere Records, where you can play a record in a listening booth before you buy it.

Small Change Creative Reuse sells secondhand art and craft supplies. That is useful for anyone getting a child ready for the planned Kid's Market. NCW Woodshop is a community makerspace with woodworking classes and memberships, open weekends from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on weekdays by appointment. Eastside Rebuild runs a tool library and sells salvaged building materials from the same complex.

Dispatch Mailroom is the last stop for out-of-town gifts. It handles shipping, carrier drop-off, mailbox rentals, delivery holding, copies and printing. Something bought at Brassbound in the morning can be shipped from the same address before Dispatch's weekday drop-off closes at 5 p.m. If you need help at the counter, staff are on hand Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Three Workshops at HoneyHour Fill In the Calendar

Heidi Kuhn's HoneyHour Market has posted three holiday events at 107 Railroad Ave. so far.

  1. Styled for the Holidays, Thursday, Nov. 12, 6–8 p.m. This tablescape and place-card workshop costs $65. The ticket covers a welcome drink, a styling demonstration and all supplies for place cards you take home. Wine, nonalcoholic drinks and food are sold separately.
  2. Cookie Decorating, Saturday, Dec. 5, 1–3 p.m. Kids decorate gingerbread cookies, and ages 8 and up are encouraged. Each child gets one cookie with icing and sprinkles, and extra cookies are $3. The listing says to dress for a mess.
  3. Holiday Focaccia to gift!, Saturday, Dec. 19, 2–4 p.m. HoneyHour's baker, Sierra, shows how to turn focaccia into a gift, and every guest leaves with a loaf. The cost is $60 per person, including a first glass of wine or another drink. To reserve a spot, email [email protected].

All three are on the HoneyHour events page. The Dec. 19 class lands on the last Saturday before Christmas, and the listing pitches the loaf as a hostess gift for a party that same night.

After Dark, the Block Has Two Rooms

The Side Street also has two places to sit in the evening. Cashmere Valley Record described The Velvet Den as a small lounge for adults only, behind a plain door in a corner of HoneyHour Market with only its stained glass hinting at the room inside. The paper reported that it opens in the late afternoon and evening on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays as HoneyHour's evening counterpart, serving the same food in a quieter room. Jazz was on the playlist when the paper visited in January. HoneyHour's own posted hours now run until 9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, so after a weekend workshop or shopping trip you can stay in the building.

At the 111 Railroad end of the block, Yonder East is Yonder Cider's taproom, serving cider, beer and cider slushies. It stays open until 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and until 8 p.m. on Sundays, which makes it the latest Sunday option on the block.

What Is Being Built Next to the Stairs

The block is still filling in. A restaurant space is under construction beside the staircase that leads up to The Sagebrush. Business World reported that Side Street is working with a Seattle-based broker to find the right restaurant. "Just trying to fit something that fits the community and focused on providing a really excellent product," Thomas said.

The same story said the restaurant is the top priority. Thomas also plans to turn spaces at 101 and 103 Railroad Ave. into small manufacturing workspaces, and a bar and an artist studio are planned for later. Each of those additions brings more people and longer hours to the block that already holds the new event room.

Right now the routine is straightforward. Gaucho opens at 6 a.m. HoneyHour, Brassbound and Cashmere Records fill the middle of the day. Dispatch takes drop-offs until 5 p.m. on weekdays, and on Fridays and Saturdays the evening runs until 9 p.m.
